The Kogi State Government has procured substantial relief materials to support victims of the recent flood disaster in the state. The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr.

Kingsley Fanwo, disclosed this on Friday while addressing newsmen on the government’s ongoing efforts to ease the suffering of affected residents.

Fanwo explained that the state has taken proactive steps, including the distribution of food and essential items, to ensure that flood victims receive immediate relief.

“We are not just waiting for external help; we have already expended significant resources to meet the needs of our people,” Fanwo said.

“The first batch of relief materials has been delivered, and more trucks are on the way.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is fully committed to ensuring that no Kogi citizen faces undue hardship during this difficult time.”

The relief items, according to Fanwo, include foodstuffs such as rice, Semovita, and beverages, alongside medical supplies, mosquito nets, mattresses, and other household essentials. The state government partnered with a major service provider to ensure the timely delivery of these supplies to displaced individuals.

Fanwo further emphasized that the government will continue to stand by the victims, while also calling on the Federal Government, international organizations, and philanthropists to offer additional assistance.

“The Kogi State Government wishes to assure the victims that they are not alone in this trying time. We are with them and will continue to provide for their needs.

“We want to reiterate our call for assistance from the Federal Government, international organizations as well as NGOs and philanthropists to come to our aid. We are doing our best but we cannot do it all,” he said.

“We are doing our best, but we cannot do it all alone. We urge all well-meaning individuals and organizations to support us in providing for those affected by this natural disaster,” Fanwo added.
