Kidnapping: one killed after Ransome, Gov Sule begs service Chiefs to secure Nasarawa

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule monday begged the security Chiefs in the state to avail him of their needs to secure Nasarawa
Governor Sule who spoke against high spate of insecurity in the state especially the state Capital at an emergency security meting with Security Chiefs in Lafia appealed to the security agencies to step up measures that could stem the increasing insecurity and other crimes in the state
“Tell me what you need, I shall provide them so we can secure our people and their properties.
” We will seek for support and do all it takes to safeguard our people”, the governor Sule declared.
The Governor’s meeting is coming at the wake of increase kidnapping, banditry and other criminal activities where kidnappers abducts, murdered a 22-year-old Anas Zubairu after collecting Ransome in Lafia
Anas, a Nigerian student of a Moroccan university who is said to be on holiday, was abducted on Friday last week at the Project Quarters area of Lafia metropolis.
According to Ana’s aunt, Hajiya Halima Jabiru, a former Commissioner of Women Affairs in Nasarawa State, and other sources, Anas’s family claimed to have paid the ransom not disclosed, a new wrapper only for the suspected kidnappers to brutally murder Anas.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer Nasarawa State Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, said the command was not aware of the incident.
It would be recalled that well-meaning citizens of the state, specially residents of Lafia, are now living in fear and uncertainty over the activities of kidnappers, killings where residents particularly Lafia always wake up to the news of one kidnapping or the other.
The deaths of Hassan Yahaya Egwa and Anas Barde in the hands of kidnappers have brought the number of high- and low-profile kidnappings in the state to a disturbing situation
The encouragements and supports security agencies are getting from the state government are not only fantastic but marvelous; yet the level of criminality in Lafia, is increasing by the day. While the curfew imposed on Lafia by the chairman of Lafia local government, Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, is still enforced, our security agencies were unable to curb this disturbing menace.
