The Enugu State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has confirmed Mr. Peter Mbah as the legitimately elected governor of the state. This decision comes after the tribunal dismissed all allegations brought forth by Mr.

Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP).

Mr. Chijioke Edeoga had approached the tribunal with multiple grievances, primarily contesting the validity of Peter Mbah’s candidacy.

Edeoga accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governor of presenting a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate and raised concerns of over-voting in specific local government areas.

Justice Kudirat Murayo Akano, who presided over the tribunal, comprehensively rejected all aspects of the petition.

The court notably discarded the claims of a forged NYSC certificate, highlighting that Mbah had not submitted his NYSC certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of his qualification to run for governor. This was because he met the necessary qualifications for the position without it.

Furthermore, the tribunal ruled against the LP’s candidate, citing a lack of admissible evidence to substantiate the allegation of certificate forgery against Mbah.

This verdict solidifies Peter Mbah’s position as the duly elected governor of Enugu State.
