Naziru Idris Ya’u, a journalist affiliated with Abubakar Rimi Television station (ARTV) and based at the Kano Government House, was hit by a stray bullet, sustaining a shoulder injury.

The incident occurred shortly after Ya’u returned to the government residence from an assignment with Governor Abba Yusuf around 8:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ya’u reportedly suffered minor injuries from the bullet, prompting immediate treatment at the Government House Clinic, where he was later discharged.

Security personnel at the government house have launched an investigation into the incident to determine its cause.

However, Government House officials have not yet issued any statement regarding the matter.

This unfortunate incident unfolded on May 3, 2024, coinciding with World Press Freedom Day, a day dedicated to highlighting the challenges faced by journalists worldwide in the pursuit of their duties.
