By Iyojo Ameh
In celebration of this year’s women’s day and a move towards fostering development and inclusivity, the Batta kingdom of Demsa Local Government Area in Adamawa State has pledged its support for global efforts advocating gender inclusion.
His Royal Majesty, Hama Batta, Humon Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke, expressed this endorsement during the commemoration of International Women’s Day, emphasizing the kingdom’s commitment to gender equality and empowerment.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson to the Hama Batta, Ladi Bala (Nzubyalata Humon Batta), the monarch lauded the invaluable contributions of women to nation-building, highlighting their pivotal role in promoting peaceful coexistence, family values, and economic progress.
Humon Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke urged Nigerians and development stakeholders to prioritize gender inclusion, emphasizing the importance of investing in women to foster a more equitable and responsive society.
In his address, the Royal father called upon the residents of Batta kingdom, including traditional title holders, to support women’s education and entrepreneurial endeavors, underscoring the need for collective action in addressing challenges such as gender disparity in education.
Expressing concern over the rising number of out-of-school children, especially girls, the monarch stressed the importance of tackling educational issues as a shared responsibility, not solely the government’s burden.
Additionally, in light of Nigeria’s economic challenges, Humon Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke urged youths, men, and women to engage in farming and other agricultural activities to enhance economic value and food security.
The statement concluded with a call to action, urging all members of Batta kingdom to contribute to societal transformation and development by supporting gender-inclusive initiatives and addressing pressing economic concerns.
