Insecurity: IMAP moves to secure institution, urges Staff, Students to be safety conscious

Following the increase wave of insecurity in Nasarawa state, the state owned polytechnic, Isah Mustapha Agwai Polytechnic ( IMAP) has taken steps to secure the institution, the staff and students.

This the authority of the institution said it has tightened security around the polytechnic to safeguard both the institution, Staff and students to avert possible attack.

Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu’azu Maifata said on Monday during an interview with Journalists in Lafia.

the Polytechnic recently terminated the contract it entered into with Whitewinter Security Company In order inject more and reliable security surveillance around the institution.

According to the Acting Rector, it has engaged there services of another security outfit , Scottbrian Global Security Services to take over the security management of the polytechnic for effective and efficient security services to meet the requirements of the institution.

“With the new security architecture, the Polytechnic Community is to join hands with the personnel to promote and provide friendly security atmosphere”..

“Also with the on-going security needs in the country, it is critical to restrategise and prioritize seamless and safer environment for teaching and learning. The Polytechnic had set up a committee which recommended the engagement of a more vibrant security outfit”, the Rector stated

He said, the institution is currently having a retired Deputy Superintendent of Police as its Chief Security Officer as part of effort to improve intelligence gathering and to inculcate, build the sense of safety and security on the institution’s security structures.

He debunked the claim that the institution’s security was porous, the Rector declared that the host community and other critical stakeholders have been supportive in tackling security situation in the polytechnic.

The Rector who enjoined the staff, students and visitors to be ready at all times with their means of identification to avert unnecessary interrogations, called on all and sundry to help the institution to serve them better..
