Inaugural Greater Igbo Forum Summit to hold in October this year
The inaugural summit of the Greater Igbo Forum Worldwide has been scheduled to kick off on the 9th of October this year in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
President of the forum, Lady Lois Jonathan, said the forum aims at re-engineering the mindset of Igbo people in Diaspora and at home to embrace homegrown values, thereby restoring the dignity and pride of the Igbo nation.
Jonathan said the Summit is timely and aims to address pressing contemporary issues affecting Ndigbo, including security challenges, economic development, and political empowerment.
The Summit will have as its theme, “Remaking Igbo Nation: Emergence of Unknown Gunmen.”
She said Greater Igbo Forum Worldwide is a non-political and non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting Igbo cultural heritage and values, fostering unity and cooperation among Igbo people worldwide.
She said it will encourage entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development, as well as supporting good governance and leadership in the Igbo community and Nigeria at large.
Jonathan said the Summit will provide a unique platform for Igbo people worldwide to converge, share ideas, and find solutions to common challenges.
She indicated that renowned speakers are to share insights and expertise on critical issues affecting Ndigbo, networking opportunities among Igbo professionals, entrepreneurs and leaders.
The President said the Igbo nation faces numerous challenges, including political marginalization, economic underdevelopment, cultural erosion, and security threats.
She said the Summit aims to address these challenges by providing a platform for discussion and solution-finding, fostering unity and cooperation among Igbo people worldwide, promoting Igbo cultural heritage and values, and encouraging entrepreneurship, innovation, and economic development.
She said it stands out from other events due to its global reach, comprehensive approach, high-profile speaker lineup, and focus on actionable solutions and tangible outcomes.
According to her, attendees at the event can expect networking opportunities with Igbo professionals, entrepreneurs, and leaders, access to renowned speakers and experts in various fields, a comprehensive report on the Summit’s proceedings and recommendations, opportunities for collaboration and partnership, and enhanced understanding of Igbo culture and heritage.
