House of representatives introduces bill to amend the Federal Universities of Technology Act

The House of Representatives has introduced and passed for First Reading a Bill for an Act to amend the Federal Universities of Technology Act (Amendment) Bill, 2024

The Bill which is jointly being sponsored by the Majority Leader, Professor Julius Ihonvbere, Hon.

Sani Nazifi and Hon. Paul Sunday Nnamchi seeks to provide a legal framework for the establishment of Federal University of Technology, Babura, Jigawa State, for the promotion and development of University education in Nigeria and make comprehensive provisions for its due management and administration; and for related matters.

By this passage, the Bill will be making its way to the Second Reading, after which it will go for Public Hearing.

Recalled that the bill was signed into law in 2021 but has not been implemented.
