The Kano State Hisbah Board has confirmed the arrest of Jigawa’s Commissioner of Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, on allegations of engaging in an illicit affair with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.
Hisbah Director General, Abba Sufi, disclosed that the arrest was made after receiving numerous complaints from the woman’s brother-in-law, accusing Sankara of inappropriate relations with her.
“Yes, it is true we have arrested Auwal Danladi Sankara, the Jigawa Commissioner, with a married woman in an uncompleted building that belongs to him,” Sufi stated, adding that the board had been tracking his movements for some time.
The case will be taken to court on Monday, according to Hisbah officials, with charges expected to include not only the illicit affair but also allegations tied to illicit drug operations. The woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, who has two children with her, filed complaints with the Kano State Police, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Hisbah Board regarding Sankara’s behavior.
“We are taking him to court on multiple charges, including operating drug dens disguised as hotels,” Sufi said, pointing to locations named Picklock and 360 as centers for illicit activities.
