The Katsina Finance Commissioner said the commodities which include rice, maize and fertilizer to be purchased from the Federal Government, were intended to cushion the suffering induced by the fuel subsidy removal.

“The Katsina State Government will bear the cost of conveying the food commodities to various distribution points across the State,” he said.

Garba confirmed that Governor Dikko Umaru Radda had earlier directed all the 34 local governments’ Chairmen to jointly purchase a total of 36,100 bags of maize, also for distribution to the less privileged members of their respective LGs.
