Worried by the unbearable hardship encountered by Nigerians, wife of the president, Oluremi Tinubu has empowered 1, 000 with N50, 000 each.

Speaking at the presentation of the funds to the 1000 benefitting women in government House Lafia Thursday, wife of the president said the gesture was to cushion the effect of the hardship being encountered by the Nigerians.

Represented by the wife of the Nasarawa State governor, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi-Sule, the wife of the president made it clear that the empowerment was specifically meant for the beneficiaries drawn from rural communities across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.

“Each of the 1000 woman benefitting from this gesture is to go home with the sum of N50,000.

The empowerment is particularly for women at the grassroots. It meant to alleviate the suffering of the less-privileged women and to also boost their economic activities in rural areas”.

“The women living in the urban areas are not part of this empowerment programme. As I speak to you now, the gesture is going on simultaneously across the nation.”

Responding on behalf of the benefitting women shortly after receiving the 50,000 naira, Hanatu Luka from Obi LGA appreciated the wife of the president for her concern for the rural women and other Nigerians.

Mrs Luka gave an assurance that the women in Nasarawa state will not disappoint the wife of the president by ensuring a judicious use of the fund.

“We the women in Nasarawa state will put the money into our small businesses in order to boost our economic activities in our various communities. The money will not only put smiles on our faces but will help us in our business activities.

It would be recalled that the wife of the president had in June this year distributed food items to over 1,200 internally displaced persons, people living with disabilities and other vulnerables estimated at millions of Naira .in Nasarawa.
