Gunmen Kidnap Second-Class Chief and 20 Residents in Taraba State

In a daring and distressing incident, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers launched an attack in the early hours of Tuesday, abducting a Second-Class Chief and 20 residents from the Pupule area of Yorro local government in Taraba state.

Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants stormed the community at approximately 2:00 am, seizing 21 individuals, including Umaru Abubakar, a Second-Class Chief in the area, along with his son, pregnant daughter, and police orderly.

“Around 2:00 am, twenty-one members of our community here in Pupule were kidnapped.

The gunmen invaded our community and carried out the attack,” stated a local resident who requested anonymity.

Usman Abdullahi, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba State Police Command, confirmed the harrowing attack, underlining the gravity of the situation.

The abduction of such a prominent figure and the scale of residents taken has sent shockwaves throughout the region, prompting an urgent response from security agencies to secure the safe return of those kidnapped.

The community remains on edge, fearful of further violence, as authorities intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators and ensure the swift and safe rescue of the victims.
