Governor Zulum unveils 70 buses for metro transport, civil servants …opens new structures at the terminus

In a significant move to enhance transportation and alleviate commuting challenges in Borno State, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum proudly introduced a fleet of 70 brand-new buses.

These buses were intended to serve as a vital component of the metro transport system, easing the daily journeys of both government employees and the public alike.

The grand unveiling ceremony took place at the Borno Express terminus, strategically located along the Kano-Maiduguri road.

The newly acquired fleet comprised standard-sized buses and larger models, ensuring ample seating capacity to accommodate a wide range of passengers. These vehicles were equipped with modern amenities, including air-conditioning systems and comfortable seating arrangements, promising a comfortable and enjoyable commuting experience.

Governor Zulum, in his remarks, emphasized the significance of this initiative, especially in light of the removal of fuel subsidies. He revealed that out of the impressive fleet of 70 buses, 30 would be dedicated to ferrying civil servants to and from their workplaces during peak hours, Monday through Friday.

Addressing the management of Borno Express, Governor Zulum urged them to prioritize affordability and consider this service as a social benefit rather than a revenue generator. He commended the management for their dedication to improving the transport sector and enhancing the well-being of both current and retired staff members.

Governor Zulum didn’t stop at the bus fleet; he also unveiled newly constructed and remodeled structures at the terminus. These structures were designed to provide accommodations for travelers and house businesses such as restaurants and offices. It’s worth noting that all these construction projects were financed through the internal revenue generated by the Borno Express company, showcasing prudent financial management.
