Governor Umaru Bago Dedicates Sun Newspaper Award to Nigerian Farmers

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dedicated his 2024 Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year in Agriculture award to farmers across Nigeria, acknowledging their contributions to the nation’s food security.

Speaking after receiving the award in Lagos, Governor Bago emphasized that the recognition was not just for him but for the people of Niger State and all farmers striving to sustain agricultural growth in the country.

“I appreciate the management and staff of The Sun Publishing Limited for this honor. This award is a testament to our collective efforts in driving agricultural development. It reinforces my commitment to the agenda of feeding the nation,” Bago stated.

The event, which brought together notable personalities, was chaired by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In his remarks, Ganduje congratulated all the awardees, stating that their recognition was well-deserved. He also underscored the importance of developmental journalism in nation-building and urged media professionals to uphold journalistic ethics.

Among the awardees in various categories were Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, as well as the Governors of Sokoto, Plateau, and Kogi States—Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, and Ahmed Usman Ododo, respectively.

Other recipients included Senator Ali Ndume, Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Nwifuru (Wife of Ebonyi State Governor), and Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The Sun Newspaper Awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to governance, public service, and national development.
