Governor Uba Sani, has refuted claims of Muslim cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s involvement in the rescue of abducted Kuriga pupils, stating that Sheikh Ahmad Gumi did not participate in the operation, which successfully secured the release of the kidnapped schoolchildren.

Governor Sani’s statement comes in the wake of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi’s offer to negotiate with bandits for the release of the abducted pupils.

However, during an interview on Channels TV, Governor Sani emphasized that the rescue mission was conducted solely by the military, in collaboration with local authorities from neighboring Zamfara State.

All 137 schoolchildren who were abducted on March 7, 2024, from the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, have been safely rescued, according to the Governor.

He credited the military’s swift and coordinated efforts, along with the support of Zamfara State authorities, for the successful operation.

He dismissed speculations regarding ransom payments, labeling them as unfounded. He affirmed that there was no involvement of Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in the rescue operation and expressed confidence in the capabilities of the Armed Forces.
