FRSC Seeks support of Nigerians in reducing road crashes

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC says the total closure of the Dutse Tipper Garage junction and the construction of a pedestrian bridge will help end incessant road accidents in the area.
The FCT Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Mutaa Chorrie, who stated this while reacting to recent accidents involving trucks, tricycles, and some commercial vehicles, said road accidents would persist unless all motor parks and illegal loading points in the area are dismantled.
The FCT Sector Commander maintained that despite regular meetings and dialogue with the leadership of truck owners, most of the drivers engaged in the business lack the knowledge required to operate heavy-duty trucks used to transport sand in the area.
He also appealed to relevant authorities to regulate the activities of heavy-duty trucks transporting heavy goods within the territory, in order to curb the poor attitude of some truck drivers towards other road users.
According to him, the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations among truck owners is becoming increasingly difficult for traffic management agencies in the territory.
He stressed that the FRSC would continue to train all categories of drivers to ensure effective road management across the six area councils.
Mr. Mutaa Chorrie also called on Nigerians to join hands with the FRSC by reporting reckless drivers to the appropriate agencies, as road safety is a shared responsibility.
