Bassey Sardauna, a teacher at Model Secondary School in Jalingo, Taraba State, was fatally stabbed by his former students outside the school premises when he was boarding a tricycle to head home after school.

Vice Principal Academics, Tsokwa Sani, revealed that the conflict originated during an inter-house inspection. An ex-student, reportedly visiting to sign a Nigeria Air Force form, disrupted the school’s proceedings, leading to a confrontation.

According to Sani, the situation escalated when the former student, accompanied by a colleague, refused to withdraw and apologize.

The teacher intervened by flogging the ex-student, urging them to leave the school premises.
This resulted in an upheaval, with the former students leaving but later regrouping with some individuals.

In a sad turn of events, the attackers ambushed Sardauna as he boarded a tricycle, stabbing him in the leg. Despite being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Jalingo, he succumbed to his injuries, with his remains now deposited at the morgue.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Abdullahi Usman, confirmed the attack. He assured that a discreet investigation is underway, as directed by the Commissioner of Police, and the culprits will be apprehended and brought to justice.
