The Forum of Igala Journalists (FORIJA) has strongly condemned the gruesome murder of Salome Ele-Ojo Adaidu, a corps member who was allegedly killed by Temileyin Ajayi. “This heinous crime has sent shockwaves across the nation, and we cannot help but condemn it in the strongest terms possible,” said Mr. Yusuf Akogu, speaking on behalf of FORIJA.

As journalists, FORIJA members have witnessed their fair share of senseless killings, but this incident has left them “speechless.” The thought of a young and promising life being cut short in such a brutal manner is devastating, and FORIJA can only imagine the pain and anguish that Salome’s family must be going through.

FORIJA is urging the police and other relevant authorities to ensure that justice is served in this matter. “We demand a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding Salome’s murder and call for the perpetrators to be brought to book,” said Akogu. This, according to FORIJA, will serve as a deterrent to those involved in ritual killings and send a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated.

FORIJA is also concerned about the rising cases of brutal killings in Nigeria, which continue to occur despite efforts by law enforcement agencies. “We call on the government to take decisive action to address this menace,” said Akogu. “We cannot continue to lose our precious daughters to this heinous crime.”

The government, according to FORIJA, must ensure that justice is served and that measures are put in place to prevent such incidents in the future. This includes providing adequate security for citizens, particularly young women, and ensuring that law enforcement agencies have the necessary resources and support to investigate and prosecute such crimes.

FORIJA pledged to keep a close eye on the matter and continue to raise awareness about the dangers of brutal killings. “Once again, we commiserate with Salome’s family and pray that God grants them the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” said Akogu. “We also call on all Nigerians to join us in condemning this heinous crime and in demanding justice for Salome and her family.”
