Food security: Nasarawa Youths hail FG acquisition of 10,000 hectares of land in Agwatashi

Youths of Agwatashi and Jangwa, Obi Local government of Nasarawa have vowed to protect and defend the federal government 10,000 hectares farming project located in the area.
Speaking against claims by some settlers accusing the federal and state government of seizing their ancestral land for farming, the Agwatashi youth Forum Chairman, Samuel Iyima Vowed not to allow anything that could jeopardize the farming project.
The youth leader noted that Agwatashi community is not in dispute with its settlers over its land, noting that the land in question is their ancestral heritage from time immemorial for over 500 years ago.

The Youth forum assured the federal and Nasarawa state government that they will defend the project and ensure it succeeds knowing to the economic importance to both the governments and the people in the community
The youth of gwatashi who threw their weight behind the federal government farming project in Obi local government area in Nasarawa State, said they solidly behind the federal government citing the project in their community stating that the project would not only address food security, but provide the people especially the youth with source of livelihood.
“The People of Agwatashi (Olosoho), Community want to thank the federal and Nasarawa State Governments under the Leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov Sule, for finding Agwatashi community worthy of citing the Food Security Project”
“As a Community, we equally wish to throw our weight behind the Unanimous decision of our traditional ruler, His Royal hHgness, Dr Umar Abubakar Apeshi, the Osoho of Olosoho and our Critical stakeholders for embracing this lofty project”
“Participants and other group representatives agreed that Alago are the Owners of the Land in Agwatashi Chiefdom, and On this, the Tiv and other Settlers Confirmed and held Firm. All Settler groups like Tiv, Eggon, Fulani, Kwalla, Hausa and others, further agreed that based on the historical Settlement Sequence, Alago are the Owners of the land” he said.
