Flood Tragedy claims lives, property at Abuja estate

The perennial flooding in the Trademore Estate has again claimed lives and property yet to be estimated this year.

The estate is Located on the outskirts of Lugbe, in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Trademore Estate has faced the wrath of annual floods, with last year’s deluge claiming the lives of over five individuals.
In response to the tragedy, Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the FCT, visited the area and pledged government intervention.
However, despite the promise made by the Senator, tragedy struck again as Monday’s torrential rain inundated Trademore Estate, snatching away two unsuspecting victims in its relentless current.
Distraught and desperate, the residents of the estate are now pleading for the immediate assistance of FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike.
In a video captured amidst the chaos, residents can be seen raising their voices, urgently appealing for help.
“FCT Minister, we are begging. This is Trademore Estate. Two persons just died now, the water took them away,” cries a woman in distress.
The footage showcases the extent of the devastation, with numerous houses submerged and valuable properties washed away.
Another resident, shocked by the destruction, exclaims, “Wow, see the police station. This is crazy, wow.”
