First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Celebrates Father’s Day, Honours Outstanding Fathers

The Minister in charge of First Baptist Church, Gwagwalada Abuja, Reverend Deji Oyelami has called on Christian Fathers not to faith in God amidst current economic challenges confronting the country.

Reverend Oyelami made the call in his sermon to mark this year’s Father’s Day Celebration of the Church in Gwagwalada Abuja

Taking his bible reading from the book of Judges chapter 6 verse 12 and Philippians 2:13, the Baptist Cleric described the current situation as temporary hence the need for Fathers to keep hope alive in God and not man.

He equally admonished them to always shun acts that could deny them of God’s blessings in their endeavour.

While urging Christian Fathers not to relent in providing for their families, Reverend Oyelami stressed the need for them to continue to be Ambassadors of Christ wherever they found themselves.

According to him, Christianity is not bread and butter as Christians are bound to face challenges in life but they should learn to cheer up as Jesus Christ is capable of solving their problems only if they believe and confess Him as their personal Lord and Saviour.

Speaking on the theme of this year’s Father’s Day Celebration “Fathers Are Superheroes” , the President of Men Missionary Union, MMU, of the Church, Engr. Ajibade Aderemi said the event which is an annual celebration among Baptist Churches in the Nigerian Baptist Convention, NBC, is to honour and appreciate the roles of Fathers in families and church as well as to remind them of their responsibilities as the head of the homes.

Engr Aderemi who stated that the theme of this year’s was chosen due to what fathers are facing due to the present economic situation of the country enjoined fathers to continue to be strong while providing for their families as God will surely see them through all difficulties and challenges.

Some Fathers in the church who equally spoke on this year’s Father’s Day Celebration thanked God for soaring their lives despite all challenges.

Highlights of the celebration were thanksgiving, talk show and recognition of some Fathers among whom is a Manager News with Radio Nigeria, Abuja, Comrade Mathew Ayoola.
