Finidi George has tendered his resignation as the head coach of Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, barely two months after his appointment.

The decision follows an announcement by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding their intentions to bring in a foreign technical adviser, a move believed to have influenced George’s resignation.

The news was confirmed by Toyin Ibitoye, former Eagles media officer, who announced the resignation via his social media account.

He tweeted, “Breaking News: Finidi George @FinidiGeorge_FG has resigned from his @NGSuperEagles manager position.

Recall that Finidi took over the coaching responsibilities on April 29, 2024, succeeding Jose Peseiro after his contract expired.

His brief tenure was marked by mixed results, including a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a 2-1 defeat to Benin Republic in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.
