Fight against crime is for all, says rtd SP

Nigerians has been advised to always assist the police in discharge of their lawful duties, especially in the area of fight against crime.

This advice was given to Nigerians by a retiring Superintendent of Police, (SP), Mrs Elizabeth Osunkwo, while thanking God at the Holy Ghost Parish, Kpeyegyi, in Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for having successfully served the police to the statutory retirement age.

The retiring SP on Sunday organised thanksgiving to Cod at the church for having successfully served the police.

Making her point, she said for crime and crimility to be reduced to the barest minimum, Nigerians should be informing the police whenever they see, hear or suspect any criminal activity going on.

“It is the duty of the police to protect lives and properties. Whenever there is trouble or crime, you call the police. At any given time, when there js triuble, you call the police and they are there for you. So police work is fir everybody. Yiu dont shy away, by saying, thus one wesrs uniform, no! When you see, suspect or even hear about crime, you inform the police. By so doing, the rate of crime will be minimised,” she advised.

Mrs Osunkwo further advised the Federal Government (FG) to be laying foundation for retiring public and civil servants. This, she said wiuld go a long way for the retirees to be able to have something doing after retirement, even as she suggested speedy of entitlement to workers at retirement, saying that it would also go a log way. She however urged those who are still in service to put their best, for the country to move forward

However, Rev Fr Stanley Chinesu Nned who celebrred the mass, in justification of thanksging, especially at retirement from one’s work, said after having served and retired sucxessfulli, it is always good to appreciate God for guidance, while in service. He however asvised those who are preparing for retirement to ensure that they leave good legacy behimd for others to follow.

As the event coincided with the yearly Mother’s Day celebration, the priest however advised the mothers to use the occasion to improve in their motherly role of taking care if the house, the children, husband and the entire family. He also advised fathers to use the opportunity to improve in their roles of fendih for the family with special love to God, their wives and children. She spoke at length on the need to be putting Gor first in everything, which if done, according to him would go a long way.
