FG’s Retirement Policy: INEC: INEC Directors Mandated to Retire
By Iyojo Ameh
In line with the Federal Government’s recent circular, HSCF/SPSO/268/T3/2/37 issued on July 27, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the implementation of a new retirement policy affecting senior officials within its ranks.
According to Sam Olumekun, the National Commissioner & Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, INEC is adhering to the directive requiring Directors with eight or more years of service to retire from the public sector.
Among them, two hold crucial positions as Heads of Departments at the National Headquarters, while the other two serve as Administrative Secretaries within the State offices.
However, it’s worth noting that a specific exemption applies to Clinical Officers within the medical cadre, as clarified in Circular MH. 7205/T/31 dated September 7, 2023.
Mr. Olumekun extended the Commission’s best wishes to the affected Directors as they conclude their tenure and retire from their service within the organization.
