The village head of Idu in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Muhammad Bawa Makama, has voiced a critical concern about the future of the region’s children, appealing to the FCT Minister, Barr Nyesom Wike, to take meaningful actions to secure their well-being.

Chief Makama conveyed this message during the 2023 Independence Anniversary celebration, where he congratulated the Honourable minister on his recent appointment and urged him to bring the same level of dedication and achievement he demonstrated as a governor in Rivers State to the FCT.

Chief Makama emphasized the importance of nurturing and safeguarding the welfare of children, stating that by doing so, the nation would be preparing future leaders who would steer the country toward progress and development.

He praised Wike for his commitment to involving FCT chiefs in governance, recognizing that they serve as a vital bridge between the government and the people. Chief Makama, however, urged the minister to make quality education more accessible to children, as he believed that an educated youth population would be better equipped to lead the nation in the future.

Additionally, Chief Makama drew Wike’s attention to the state of healthcare in the area, appealing for the transformation of the local health center in his domain into a general hospital. He argued that with the growing population in Idu and the considerable distance to existing hospitals, the expansion of the health center was essential to address the healthcare needs of the community effectively.
