Toluige Olokoobi, the mother of Oreofeoluwa Lawal-Babalola, the renowned “Mummy Calm Down” boy, has taken her own life. The incident has led to the detention of Oreofeoluwa’s father by the police.

Toluige rose to fame when a video of Oreofeoluwa pleading with her to “calm down” went viral, capturing the hearts of the nation.

The tragic news of her suicide emerged when an X user identified as Samson, reported the incident in Benin.

According to Samson, Toluige had kept her struggles to herself, refusing to confide in anyone before tragically ending her life.

The police have confirmed her demise, and Chidi Nwabuzor, the spokesman for the Edo State police command, revealed that the husband reported the incident to the authorities.

The husband claimed to have discovered Toluige hanging with a rope around her neck upon returning home from the market. Despite immediate efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead at the hospital, and her body was subsequently taken to the mortuary.

The police have detained the husband for questioning as they investigate the circumstances surrounding Toluige’s death.

The “Mummy Calm Down” video had propelled the family to national fame, earning them invitations from political figures and collaborations with brands.
