Ethnic militia Proscription: police recovers 1, 473 security items in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Sunday announced the recovery of a total of one thousand four hundred and seventy three(1473). security working materials from ban Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations in Nasarawa State

The items received include 267 pears of uniforms, 102 pieces of black belts, 189 pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group.

Others according to the statement include five hundred and sixty-four (564) black berets, three hundred and thirty-nine (339) pieces of black/ ten (10) white lanyards and two (2) identification cards were also received from the aforementioned vigilante group.

The recovery followed compliance with Executive Order No.1 2024 proscribing Ethnic vigilante groups and other similar organisations by the Nasarawa state government.

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Shehu Umar Nadada in a statement issued and signed by the public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Ranham Nansel said the items recovered was in line with the directive proscribing the activities and operations of ethnic vigilante groups in the state.

“The Commissioner wishes to inform the general public that the Police command has received two hundred and sixty-seven (267) pears of uniforms, one hundred and two (102) pieces of black belts and one hundred and eighty-nine (189) pieces of infantry lanyards from Kungiyar Zaman Lafiya Nomad vigilante group”.

“The Commissioner hereby call on those who are yet to comply with the Executive Order to do so on or before the expiration of the two-week ultimatum; as the Command shall ensure that the Ban is enforced to the latter”, the statement declared.

It would be recalled that the Nasarawa state government last week announced the ban on the activities and operations of ethnic vigilante groups in the state following the controversial circumstances surrounding the establishment of a Fulani vigilante group in the state.
