Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut Appointed as Head of WAEC, Nigeria

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the appointment of Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut as the Head of the Nigeria National Office. This appointment follows the conclusion of Patrick Areghan’s tenure as the head of WAEC.
Dr. Dangut’s association with WAEC spans over two decades, having joined the examination body in 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II.
During his tenure at WAEC, Dr.
Subsequently, he held roles such as Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller in Uyo and Bauchi Branch Offices.
Dr. Dangut’s professional journey continued with his appointment as Senior Assistant Registrar/Branch Controller at the Yola Branch Office from December 2011 to January 2019. He further excelled in the position of Deputy Registrar/Controller in the Post Examinations Department from January 2019 to October 2020. His contributions extended to the role of Deputy Registrar/Zonal Coordinator at the Ikeja Zonal Office.
Born on October 2, 1967, in Mbar District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, Dr. Dangut is a distinguished scholar with a rich educational background. He attended Government Secondary School, Riyom, and Government Science School, Kuru, in Plateau State. He obtained his WASC/SC in 1986.
Dr. Dangut then pursued his higher education at the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production in 1991.
With a career spanning 25 years, Dr. Dangut has leveraged Information and Communications Technology (ICT) to bring innovative improvements to various aspects of Test Development, Test Administration, and Post Test Activities within WAEC.
His contributions to the field are reflected in his numerous educational publications in international and national journals. Dr. Dangut has also been a prominent speaker, delivering keynotes and presenting papers at various international and national conferences and fora.
