Don’t unleash terror on innocent Nigerians— Nasarawa Lawmaker tells youths. set to amend NAYES law

Member of the Nasarawa state House of Assembly representing Lafia Central constituency, Hon. Solomon Yakubu Akwashiki, has called on the youths not to allow themselves to be used by desperate individuals or groups to unleashed terror on innocent Nigerians.

This is even as the house is set to review the existing law that establish the Nasarawa state Youths Empowerment scheme, a state security outfit for better results.

Akwashiki, the Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts made the call when he paid a visit to the General Manager Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Scheme (NAYES), Abdullahi Bala in his office in Lafia monday

The lawmaker who acknowledged the constitutional right of the citizens to hold peaceful protest, said it was criminal and unlawful for the youth to take advantage of the protest to destroy properties as well as unleashing terror on others.

“Protest is constitutional but taking advantage of the protest to kill and destroy other people’s property is criminal and as a government we condemned it and we will never encourage that. I want to call on the youth to embrace peace and to be patient with the government of the day.

“Government is fully aware of the plights being faced by Nigerians and in no distance time, it will come out with more measures that will reduce the pains being faced by Nigerians,”

He used the occasion to call on parents to monitor their children and not to allow them engage in the protest that will at the end turn into violence.

” Youth should always embrace peace and support the government of Governor Abdullahi Sule because Sule is doing a lot in the state through his developmental projects. Let continue to give him support to succeed,” Akwashiki advised.

He applauded the General Manager, management and staff of NAYES for exhibiting professional conduct during the protest, urging them to keep up the tempo.

While enjoining the youth and other Nigerians to maintain positive synergy with all arms of the government in order to ensure good governance in the state, Akwashiki said that the State Assembly is working to ensure that the law establishing the youth scheme is strengthen.

Responding, the General Manager, Abdullahi Bala appreciated the lawmaker for the visit and the effort of the Assembly to review the law establishing NAYES to make the agency more active and effective in the state.

He assured the lawmaker of his agency desire to work within the provisions of the law for the overall development of the state.
as well as collaborate with the assembly for quality service delivery.
