Don’t join protest to snowball Nigeria into full scale crisis—– Nasarawa APC cautions
By David Odama
As tension mounts over planned protest against end ad governance, harsh economics environment and hunger nationwide, the Nasarawa state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has appealed the Nigerians to shelve the planned protest in the interest of the country.
Chairman of the party in the state, Dr. Aliyu Ballo said at a press conference in Lafia, Tuesday that the proposed protest was not only counter productive, needless but unneccessary because president Ahmed Bola Tinubu was working to fix the battered economy for the betterment of all Nigerians.
According to Aliyu Bello, “As a party, we do feel the untold hardship in the land occasioned by mismanagement and maladministration by the previous administrations.
He explained that where the objective of such protest appeared to undermine the national security and a breach of public peace, it becomes expedient as a people to have a rethink and embrace dialogue.
The state Chairman of the party who alleged that the protest was stage managed by those he described as people with selfish ambition, political jobbers seeking relevance with a complete motive of describing the APC government, called on the citizens and residents of Nasarawa state to shun the planned protest.
“let it be on notice that this protest is a politically motivated action by some enemies of state who do not mean well for the ordinary citizens except for their selfish political gains. They are out to cause disaffection among the citizens, sabotage the painstaking efforts of government by all means not minding the grave consequences on the fragile unity and security of our dear nation.
Aliyu warned that any attempt to validate their ill motivated clamour by joining the protest may cause further untold hardship in the land adding that apart from supporting the Tinubu and the APC government to deliver in it’s mandate, the nation need a hands to be on deck to salvage it from the present doldrum.
“We are also aware that the planned protest being organized by faceless individuals carries with it some ominous pretexts which is capable of snowballing into full scale crisis, therefore, we condemn in strong terms the ill motives behind the protest and enjoined citizens to be patriotic enough to embrace dialogue, give the administration of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu a chance to revamp the economy and reposition the nation on the threshold of prosperity.
“In all fairness to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, measures with far reaching effect capable of scaling up responses on the demands of the citizens were being factored into the nation’s growth. Mr president in his efforts to address the problem of food shortage and in ensuring that there is food security, has since been directed to the state governors to cultivate a minimum of 10hctrs of land for the cultivation of grains; a project fully conceived and funded by the federal government” Aliyu declared.
“Mr president in his avowed commitment to resolving the perennial farmers/herders conflict has created the Ministry of Livestock Development as a response to the demands of the Nomads as a way of mitigating the negative impacts on food shortage in the country
Mr president in all concerns for democracy and grassroot development has dared the state governors by the recent supreme court judgment which ceded financial autonomy to the local Government councils and granting them full recognition as federating units of the Nigeria political structure.
Mr president as a way of stimulating the economy has consistently awarded capital projects across states of the federation as a means of creating direct and indirect employment opportunities for the teeming youths.
Here in our home front, His Excellency Engr Abdullahi A Sule the Governor of Nasarawa State in consistency with the renewed hope agenda of my president, has left no backlog of salary arrears and has been consistent in bequeathing good infrastructural facilities in the state and has continued to provide palliatives as a means to cushioning the effects of the hardship occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy.
In view of the foregoing, the Nasarawa State APC is calling on the good people of the state to give peace a chance, stay away from the protest and avoid acts capable of taking us back to the era of unfathomable reconstruction. However, if the protest must go on, ensure every step is peaceful devoid of violence, respect the rights of other citizens, confined yourselves to the approved protest spots, do not dare the security agencies by allowing hudlums to take over the protest.
