Defection : Go to party of your choice— NNPP leadership tells it Lawmaker in Nasarawa, says he has not committed any offence.

The fact finding committee set up by the leadership of the New Nigeria people’s party, NNPP to investigate the circumstances that led to the defection of it’s representative in the state House of Assembly, , Hon Mohammed.
The party’report which was read on the floor of the House, reads as thus “It is our finding and submission that a division that will justify a defection should be one which makes the political party impossible or impracticable to function or one which directly affect the person’s in question, a division which strikes at the root of membership of the person concerned.
” We relied on the cases of division at the National level of the NNPP as listed by Hon.
” We advised that no action be taken against the Hon. Member” the report of the committee said”
Reacting to the report, Hon. Mohammed Garba Isimbabi, Member Representing Toto/Gadabuke Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly explained that a committee constituted by his former party, New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the State to find out the circumstances that led to his defection to APC has vindicated him.

Hon Isimbabi appreciated the committee for doing a good job without fear, favour, sentiment and for adhering to constitutional provisions on defection.
Hon. Isimbabi said that he officially resigned from NNPP on Aug. 2024 after due consultation with stakeholders and other people of his constituency.
“On 21st August, 2024, I submitted a letter of my resignation of my former party NNPP.
And after a week, I officially announced my resignation at the floor of the House where the leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau read my resignation letter during the House proceedings.
” My resignation from my former party, NNPP was due to division in NNPP at the National level where there are two leaderships with two different NNPP Logos operating and series of pending court cases” he said.
He said that NNPP constituted a five man committee to find out why he defected from the party to APC.
” On 31st August, 2024, State Executive Council constituted Five Man facts finding committee to investigate why i left NNPP.
In the wisdom of the committee and to give me fair hearing, the committee invited me and I met with them. I gave them reasons, especially division in the party at the national level with pending series of court cases as one of the reasons why I left NNPP.
” I also defected in the interest of my people and to attract development to my constituency” he said. politics is local, I defected for the benefit of my people, I defected because of popular demands from my people” he added.
Hon. Isimbabi revealed that he followed all the due process including payment of all NNPP dues and appreciated NNPP for given him the platform to contest and win election into the House in 2023.
The lawmaker assured of adding value and contributing positively to the development of APC, his constituency and the state at large.
It would be recalled that the committee had submitted its report on Saturday 21st of this month.
