After the seventeen (17) members of the Cross River State House of Assembly attempted to remove Speaker Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem from office, some of the members who signed the petition to do so claimed that Hon.

Cyril Omini, the member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency, had deceived them with Voodoo.

One member of the House of Assembly, who begged to remain anonymous, stated that the 17 members were sworn under oath not to reveal any information about the impeachment procedures or face certain death.

The member further disclosed that Hon.

Cyril Omini had misled them on the basis that he was sent by Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, regarding the oath taken.

Recall that 17 members reportedly signed a petition on May 22, 2024, calling for the removal of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem.

Another representative from the Southern District, Hon Ogban disclosed that the oath they took was made possible by Hon Omini, who overnight transported them to an unfamiliar place to accomplish their goal.

He further stated that Voodoo forced him to do what he never want to do, even though it was never his intention to cause trouble in the Cross River State House of Assembly.

Also speaking, the member representing Obanliku State Constituency, Hon. Asha Pius Ashakia, in a phone call conversation, stated that he had no intention of opposing the Speaker nor causing chaos in the Assembly, that most of them were duped into signing a document they thought was a Cocoa Allocation document, which was brought before them, and that the agent later removed the cover and used it for whatever they pleased.

Hon. Pius also stated that most of the members who signed the petition to remove the Speaker had no idea what they were signing due to the Voodoo performed on them by Hon. Cyril Omini of Yakurr 1.
