Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned till Thursday to rule on a crucial motion filed by former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus.

Secondus is seeking a stay of execution of the court’s order, which currently restrains him and two others from participating in PDP meetings.

The adjournment follows a motion filed by a PDP member from Rivers State, Titus Jones, seeking an order restraining Secondus from attending party meetings. The motion is part of a larger legal battle involving several key figures within the PDP.

In his ruling on an ex-parte motion brought by Titus Jones, Justice Ekwo granted several prayers, notably restraining Secondus from participating in any upcoming meetings of the PDP.

Justice Ekwo stated:

“Order is hereby made restraining the 1st Defendant from demanding for any notice of National Caucus meetings or meetings of the National Executive Committee (5th Defendant) or Board of Trustees (7th Defendant) or any other meetings of the 2nd Defendant from the 4th Defendant pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”

Furthermore, the court ordered: “Order is hereby made restraining the 1st Defendant from attending any meeting of the 2nd Defendant, be it caucus meetings, meetings of the National Executive Committee (5th Defendant) or Board of Trustees (7th Defendant) or any other meeting howsoever described participating in the proceedings, deliberations of any such meeting pending the hearing and determination of the Motion on Notice.”

The legal dispute stems from a suit filed by Titus Jones, who sought to prevent Secondus from attending any PDP meetings pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice. The court’s ruling highlights the intricacies of internal party conflicts and the role of the judiciary in resolving such disputes.

The outcome of Thursday’s ruling will likely have far-reaching implications for the future trajectory of the PDP and its leadership dynamics.
