A woman, Amina Abashe, found herself facing the wrath of the law after allegedly pouring hot water on her husband, Shehu Abdullahi, in Kontagora, Niger State, just two months into their marriage.

The incident unfolded during a heated argument over Abdullahi’s concerns about his wife’s frequent phone calls with other men.

Things escalated when Abashe reportedly attempted to stab Abdullahi before resorting to pouring scalding water on him.

Abdullahi, who works as a commercial driver, sustained grievous injuries from the attack and is currently undergoing treatment at Kontagora General Hospital.

The police charged Abashe with causing grievous hurt to her husband, in violation of Section 245 of the Panel Code.

Despite pleading not guilty during the arraignment, the court ordered her remand in a correctional facility.

ASP Danladi Marafa, the prosecutor, requested the remand to ensure the victim’s health condition is monitored and for the safety of the accused.

Magistrate Khadijah Dauda granted the prosecutor’s request and adjourned the case to April 16 for further proceedings.
