Court Adjourns Defamation Case Involving Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki Until August 6th, 2024

An Upper Area Court in Abuja, Nigeria, presided over by Hon Shehu Ahmed has adjourned a defamation case involving Alhaji Kabiru Tanimu Turaki as the plaintiff until August 6th, 2024. The case, which was filed on June 23rd, 2024, revolves around allegations of false paternity and adultery.

According to the plaintiff’s claims, the defendants, Musa Basiru Baffa, Hadiza Musa Baffa, and Uwani Arabi, who happen to be former husband and wife and parents to Hidiza musa Baffa, they mother of the child in question have made “false and malicious statements” about him, including that he is the biological father of their daughter and that he committed adultery.

The plaintiff denies these allegations, stating they are “entirely false and without basis.

” He seeks a declaration from the court that the child is not his biological daughter and that the adultery allegation is false and defamatory.

While, this case is pending hearing on 6th ,August 2024 the defendant has filed a 36 paragraphs statement of Defence, on 30th July, 2024. Wherein, they substantiated the circumstances of the plaintiff impregnating the 2nd Defendant which resulted to the child in issue . A replica of the plaintiff.

Barr. M.B. Usman, counsel to the plaintiff, expressed confidence in their case, stating, “We look forward to presenting our arguments on the adjourned date.”

The defendants’ counsel, Barr. Mutiu Akinsanya, declined to comment on the case.

The court’s decision on August 6th, 2024, will determine the case’s future proceedings.
