Community leader, Agunechibe passes on

A community leader, Chief Ikechukwu Onwudiwe, the Agunechibe 1st of the ancient city of Akwuoba Ogbunka, Orumba south local government area of Anambra state, Nigeria has died, his son, Chinedu Onwudiwe has officially announced

A former chairman of his village, Akwuoba, the revered title holder of note, according to him died at the age of 71 after a brief illness on April the 13th, 2023.

Speaking with tears on his face, Onwudiwe junior also announced that his father’s burial and funeral will begin from July the 23rd, 2023.

“I would have announced the death of my father for a long time, but as the custom demands, chiefs don’t die, but they live and rest forever.

Also in line with custom, I am now announcing his death as a result of brief illness.

Describing the deceased as a selfless and dedicated leader who contributed immensely to the development of the village, the present chairman of the ancient village, Chief Ikechukwu Chukwubueze enjoined the community members and those left to mourn the dead to take heart and bear the loss, even as he said that nobody had the right to question God on His decision.

Chukwubueze therefore called on the community members to ensure that all hands be on deck to give the deceased a befitting burial. He reiterated that Onwudiwe’s death was a great loss to all.
The chairman further enjoined all to emulate the leadership style of the deceased, which if done, according to him would go a long way.

It was however agreed by the community members to ensure that he be given a befitting burial.
