FG COMMENDS CHINENYE OGWUMIKE AND OSAGIE IMASOGIE ON NOMINATION TO ADVISORY COUNCIL ON AFRICA DIASPORA

Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), extends her heartfelt congratulations to Chinenye Ogwumike and Osagie Imasogie, two distinguished Nigerian-Americans, for their nomination to the Advisory Council on Africa Diaspora Engagement by U.

S. President Joe Biden.

In an official statement released by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media and Public Relations at NIDCOM, Dabiri-Erewa expressed her enthusiasm for the inclusion of these two exceptional Nigerians on the 12-member advisory council, considering it a significant and laudable development.

Dabiri-Erewa stated that the nomination of Chinenye Ogwumike and Osagie Imasogie serves as a source of motivation and pride for not only Nigerians but also for Africans at large.

Chinenye Ogwumike a prominent figure in both the sports and media world, holds the distinction of being a two-time WNBA All-Star representing the Los Angeles Sparks. She has further solidified her legacy as a full-time, multi-platform ESPN commentator and NBA analyst, making her one of the few professional athletes concurrently engaged in national sports media broadcasting. Her achievements include being named the 2014 WNBA Rookie of the Year and earning two WNBA All-Star selections (2014 and 2018).

A proud Nigerian-American, Chinenye Ogwumike graduated with an International Relations degree from Stanford University, where she was mentored by Dr. Condoleezza Rice.

In a groundbreaking move, she became the first Black woman to host a national daily sports-talk radio show in August 2020 and also holds the title of Executive Producer for the ESPN Films documentary “144,” which delves into the 2020 WNBA season. Her achievements culminated in her recognition as a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree in 2021.

Osagie Imasogie a distinguished professional, is the Chairman of the Investment Bank and SEC/FINRA registered Broker-Dealer, Quoin Capital, and Quoin Advisors. He is also a co-founder of PIPV Capital, a private equity firm with a primary focus on the life sciences sector, boasting investments exceeding $1 billion. Before co-founding PIPV Capital.

Imasogie played a pivotal role in establishing GlaxoSmithKline Ventures, where he served as the founding Vice President.

His career spans senior positions in both commercial and R&D within pharmaceutical giants such as GSK, SmithKline Beecham, and DuPont Merck. Notably, he held the position of Price Waterhouse Corporate Finance Partner and practiced law as an attorney at the prestigious U.S. law firm Schnader, Harrison, Segal & Lewis.

Imasogie’s entrepreneurial spirit and investment prowess extend to his role on the boards of prominent financial institutions such as FS-KKR Capital Corp and Haverford Trust, collectively managing over $28 billion in assets. He is an adviser to Brown Advisory, a firm overseeing in excess of $140 billion.

Imasogie’s commitment to philanthropy is evident through his roles as Vice-Chair of the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and a member of the Executive Committee, as well as Chair of the Nominating & Governance Committee of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center. In addition, he serves as a Trustee of the University of Pennsylvania and is an Adjunct Professor of Intellectual Property at the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.

Osagie Imasogie holds LLM degrees from the London School of Economics and the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School and is a member of the New York State Bar, in addition to being admitted to practice in other jurisdictions.
