47-year-old Chinese national, Frank Geng-Quangrong, has been handed a death sentence by hanging for the murder of his 22-year-old Nigerian girlfriend, Ummukulsum Sani, at Janbulo Quarters in Kano.

Justice Sanusi Ado-Ma’aji, presiding over the case, declared the defendant guilty based on inconsistencies in his testimony.

The prosecution, led by Kano State’s Attorney-General, Haruna Dederi, successfully proved the case, despite Frank’s plea of not guilty.

The victim’s mother, Hajiya Fatima Zubairu, expressed satisfaction with the verdict, emphasizing its significance in the pursuit of justice for violent crime victims.

As Frank awaits the governor’s decision on his plea for mercy, the case underscores the importance of preventive measures against such tragedies.
