In a surprising turn of events, Victor Osimhen, the powerhouse striker of the Super Eagles, has been handpicked by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for a random drug test.

This decision comes in the wake of Osimhen’s exceptional display of strength during the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Ivory Coast.

Osimhen proved to be the driving force behind Nigeria’s success in both the 2023 AFCON group stage and the intense Round of 16 clash against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

His relentless pursuit of every ball and consistent threat to the Cameroon defense did not go unnoticed.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year underwent the drug test immediately following the match against Guinea-Bissau.

In a parallel development, Simon Moses, the 2023 CAF Best Player Of The Year from FC Nantes, and William Troost-Ekong, have also found themselves subjected to similar doping examinations.

These tests according to the football are routine procedures, often conducted on players whose heightened energy levels raise suspicions of substance use.

Additionally, it has been reported that two other Cameroonian players underwent comparable tests, emphasizing that Osimhen was not the sole player under scrutiny in the tournament.

As the AFCON drama unfolds, Nigeria is gearing up to face Angola in the quarterfinals, with hopes of securing a positive outcome to advance to the semi-finals on Friday.
