The Nigeria Police have detained Honourable Alexander Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member representing Aba North and South of Abia State, following an incident involving an alleged assault on a Bolt driver.

The arrest was prompted by a complaint filed at the Maitama Divisional Headquarters.

According to SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Abuja Police Command, authorities acted swiftly after receiving the complaint, leading to Ikwechegh’s detention.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the Bolt driver, Mr.

Abuwatseya claims he was physically assaulted by the lawmaker.

Video footage of the incident reportedly shows Ikwechegh threatening the driver, claiming he could make him “disappear” without repercussions.

The footage also reveals Ikwechegh berating the driver, allegedly taking offense at being asked to step outside his residence in Maitama, Abuja, to receive his delivery personally.

She further revealed in the statement that the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu has ordered for a comprehensive investigation into the matter while assuring of the Command’s commitment in conducting a transparent investigation and ensuring justice.

It added that appropriate legal action will be taken upon completion of the investigation.

It was reported that Honourable Alex Mascot Ikwechegh was caught on camera threatening to make an Uber driver disappear and nothing will happen.

The unfortunate incident occurred during a delivery at his residence in Maitama, Abuja.

The driver while recounting his ordeal, said trouble started when he requested that the lawmaker should come outside to receive his delivery personally.

The video shows the visibly angry lawmaker verbally berating and cursing the driver, taking offence at being asked to step out of his home to receive his items.

As the altercation intensified, the footage captured Ikwechegh slapping the driver multiple times, insisting the request was disrespectful given his social status.
