Breaking News: PDP’s Douye Diri Emerges Victorious in Bayelsa Governorship Election

Douye Diri, the incumbent Bayelsa State governor and candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The official announcement came from INEC’s Bayelsa State Returning Officer, Professor Farouk Kuta, who declared, “The elections were contested, and Senator Douye Diri of the PDP, having satisfied the requirements of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.

Diri secured victory by clinching six out of eight local government areas, amassing a total of 175,196 votes.

His closest contender, Chief Timipre Sylva of the APC, emerged victorious in two local government areas but fell short with a total of 110,108 votes.
