Ahead the celebration of Sallah slated for June 16th, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state as ordered the payment of June salaries to civil servants in the state.

Governor Sule gave the directive while speaking at the empowerment programme organized by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian Affairs and NGOs, Hon.

Magret Elayo, Tuesday.

This is even as the Governor directed chairmen of the 13 local government areas of the state to use their savings to pay workers salaries before the Sallah celebration.

He said the coming Sallah provides the opportunity to test the veracity of the fact that local governments in Nasarawa State have savings in the bank.

“Now, that I am seeing a lot of local government chairmen, you won’t say it’s the ALGON chairman that is forcing you. I am happy that I am seeing all of you here. As you all know, Sunday is going to be Sallah day. You have enough savings in accounts that whether money has not come from Abuja, you can pay salaries.

“I want you to pay salaries to local government from your own savings in the bank. We have been saying it, you have savings. This is the time to test that statement whether you have savings. Let us not wait for money to come from Abuja. The state will pay its own. We don’t have a problem with the state,” he stated.
