Branded Or Generic Christian?
By Jarlath Uche Opara
We are in a race, with a destination that is diverse. Rules and regulations abound with consequences when infringed and benefits when adhered to.
Christianity is a religion, but more of a lifestyle that calls for brokeness, self denial and righteousness.
Going to church is good, getting involved with the activities of the church is better, which makes one a generic Christian.
Brands are not fake ,generics can be. Brands are not commonized, generics can. Brands have trademarks that stand them out even in a crowd, generics can be swallowed by the crowd.
Brands are consistent with their values, integrity and quality, generics are vulnerable to integrity, value and quality appreciation.
Until one gets to that “Brand Christainity” level where nothing is compromised or managed, living a Christian life wouldn’t be a style — a level that gives one the assurance of heaven and the defeat of the kingdom of darkness.
A brand isn’t sold because it is displayed on the showroom of a big supermarket. It is rather sold because of the value it gives. A brand isn’t rushed because of the hype sensational advertisement. Rather it is rushed out of stock because of its integrity .
Take a brand and hide it, those who know the worth would look for it ,however remote the place is. If you want to be something, be the best of it. If you want something, go for its best version. It certainly will be expensive, worth ten time the generic one , but the value for your money, non-negotiable.
What kind of Christian are you? A” brand Christian” or Generic one?
Both the brand and the generic may look the same, but there is always a diffenciating mark( Gal 5.22-23 ) once scanned and this Gal 5. 22- 23 does not show, it is generics. Simple! No matter how well packaged and externally well designed it is, it is still not a brand, It is generic. The best way to be a Christian is to be a brand ( narrow way) than generic( Wide way)
Generic Christains are everywhere with the semblance of branded Christianity. Becareful!!
