Be sure of your furniture allowance, enhance welfare–Nasarawa Assembly Speaker tells LG Speakers

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has assured Speakers of Local Government Legislative Councils in Nasarawa state of payment of their furniture allowances and other welfare packages.

The Speaker gave the assurance while hosting the Forum of Speakers, Local Government Legislative Council Wednesday in Lafia.

Jatau told the Speakers of the Local Government Legislative Council that under the present dispensation, he would ensure that their furniture allowance and other benefits due to the LG lawmakers paid.

The Speaker directed the Chairman, House Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Musa Ibrahim Abubakar to liaise with the ministry of LG and Chieftaincy Affairs and ALGON to ensure that the prolonged issue of payment of furniture allowance and other entitlements due to the Lawmakers at the LG if any are paid to put to rest the prolonged issues.

” I want to appreciate you for your visit and to assure you of my readiness to ensure that the issue of the payment of your furniture allowance is put to rest. By God’s grace, the issue of the payment of furniture allowance to you will be addressed under my watch,” the Speaker declared.

On the issue of N64,000 alleged deduction from the salary of Speaker, Doma Local Government Area, Jatau directed the House Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Musa Ibrahim Abubakar, to engage the Chairman, Doma Local Government Council and the Speaker of the area with the view of finding lasting solution to the issue.

” I have directed the Chairman, House Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs to engage the Chairman of Doma Local Government on the issue of the deduction and report back to me. What I want is peace between chairmen and councillors,”

Hon. Jatau called for peaceful and cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms at the third tier of government for grassroot development in the state.

Earlier, Speaker of Speakers Forum, Local Government Legislative Council, Nasarawa State, Hon AbdulMalik Mailafia had said that the visit was to congratulate Rt. Hon. Jatau on his emergence as Speaker of House.

Mailafia, who is the Speaker of Obi Legislative Council, appealed to the Speaker to intervene in the area of payment of their furniture allowance.

While appealing further to the Speaker to intervene over alleged continue deduction of N64,000 from the salary of Speaker, Doma Local Government Area by Chairman of Doma Local Government, Mailafia assured the Speaker of their loyalty and support to succeed.
