Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu President-elect, receives Certificate of Return from INEC

The President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in the 2023 presidential election, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu has been presented with his certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The ceremony which witnessed a great number of dignitaries, supporters and party members from across the 36 and FCT took place at the National Collation Center, Abuja.
In his remarks, the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu said, although the road was long, but the victory was won. “I realise I’m just a servant of a larger group.
“We shall soon witness a very great nation where a younger person will be holding this certificate as its leader, a woman holding it as a leader as well”.
“There are young people listening to me now who shall one day be the leaders of our dear nation “.
“To the youths, I will work day and night to mine ability to make Nigeria better so that you can all be proud. I will work to the utmost best to make Nigeria better”.
“This is a victory to all Nigerians who are committed to having a great nation”.
“I know many who did not vote for me and you are angry that your candidates did not win, I extend my warm embrace of a family, this country beckons to us all to build. Don’t allow the disappointment of the moment to rob you of the greatness we can achieve together as a nation. I’m asking you to work with me to make Nigeria great. My doors are open to you so that we can build the nation together, day by day”.
“Where there is poverty, let’s create wealth, where there’s hunger let’s create abundance. Where, there’s brutality and violence, let’s establish peace. Let’s reconstruct the bridge to permanent peace”.
“I want to remember this day as a day we stand to make Nigeria a great nation”.
INEC declared Tinubu winner of Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election having polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 6,984,520 to emerge second.
Peter Obi of the Labour Party, clinched third position with 6,101,533 votes. While NNPP came a distant fourth with 1,496,687.
Declaring the result Mahmoud Yakubu, the INEC chairman, said: “Bola Tinubu of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner of the election.”
Breakdown of the Presidential election result as Presented at National Collation Centre, Abuja shows that total accredited voters were 25,286,616 and total votes cast was 24,965,218.
