The Appeal Court has upheld the electoral win of Senator Isah Jibrin, solidifying his position as the representative of Kogi East Senatorial District. This momentous decision comes after an earlier tribunal verdict had annulled Senator Jibrin’s win, triggering a call for a rerun in specific polling units.

Senator Isah Jibrin, who has been steadfast in his claim to the seat, expressed his elation at the court’s decision, stating that it is a true testament to the immense support he garnered from the people of Kogi East during the election.

The presiding Judge, in delivering the judgment, criticized the earlier tribunal verdict, describing it as a “somersault of judicial process,” akin to “putting the cart before the horse.

Senator Jibrin, in his reaction to the court’s decision, emphasized that this ruling reaffirms the mandate bestowed upon him by his constituents. He expressed, “This judgment is a revalidation of my mandate given to me by my people.”

With the legal hurdles now behind him, Senator Isah Jibrin underlined the necessity of focusing on consolidating his mandate and diligently serving the people. He asserted, “With the court struggles behind us, it’s time to concentrate on the business of lawmaking and ensuring excellent and equitable representation for the people.”
