Ahead February 25th general elections, Nasarawa state governor, Abdullahi Sule Wednesday begged members of the rulling All Progressive Congress (APC) not to allow the enormous crisis in the party deny it of victory in the February and March general elections.
Governor Sule equally appealed to all members of the party to shield their sword and find a common ground to resolve all pending differences if the party must remain together and win the forthcoming general elections in Nasarawa State in particular and the country in general.
Sule spoke at the presentation of flags to two state house of Assembly candidates, Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura, APC Akwanga North constituency and Stephen Abraham Naral, Karu/ Gitata state constituency who won their cases in the supreme court recently.
Sule noted that unless members of the party seeking elective positions were prepared to sacrifice, open the doors for dialogue, the chances of the party winning elections in Nasarawa state was very doubtful.
The governor also explained that the presentation of flags to the two candidates was the out come of the supreme court judgement delivered in favour of the two candidates.
” When the Deputy Speaker lost his case at the appeal court I pleaded with him not to proceed with the case, but he insisted.i have no option than to allow him, he got his justice and today I’m glade to present him with the party flag.
“When my brother from Karu lost his appeal, I begged him and he refused that he must get justice and here he is today to receive the flag I have refused him earlier”.
“My fear was that proceeding with the case two weeks to elections would compound our problem. I will continue to beg our party members to work together for the success of the party, unity of the people and in the interest of the state”, Sule added.
“It is not always in our interest to go from one litigation to the other. I know we have issues. it is better we resolve our issues as a family rather than engaging in litigations in the interest of the party and the state”, Gov. Sule begged.
“Go back to your opponents. Plead with them, convince them, don’t be deceived reach out to them, laugh with them so that we can together win our elections that are around the corner”, Sule stated.
Earlier, APC state Chairman, Dr John Mamman had commended governor Sule for resilience, doggedness, commitment towards the unity of the party in the state.
John Mamman advised members working against one another, against the party and assured all the candidates and other party members of victory in the forthcoming elections in Nasarawa State.
Speaking on behalf of the candidates, Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly,
Responding on behalf of the second candidate, Stephen Abraham Naral, the Deputy Speaker, Nehemiah Tsentse Dandaura, APC candidate for Akwanga North thanked the governor for the honour done them.
Dandaura assured APC and the people of the state of their readiness to work for the victory of the party at all levels in the state
