The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Jigawa State has taken decisive action by suspending its chairman in the Roni local government area, Saleh Idris over the allegations that he had sexually assaulted and impregnated his 14-year-old house help.

The suspension was officially announced through a statement signed by Aminu Sani Gumel, the state chairman of the APC.

The allegations against Saleh Idris led to his recent remand in custody by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Dutse, the state capital.

Saleh Idris was arrested on October 4, following a complaint filed by the victim’s brother to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Adamu Shehu, the spokesperson for NSCDC in Jigawa State, confirmed the minor’s pregnancy after a laboratory test, noting that she was approximately four months and two weeks pregnant.

In their official statement, the Jigawa State APC outlined their reasons for suspending Saleh Idris. They cited the violation of Section 21.2 (viii) and (x) of the APC 2022 Constitution, as well as the need for further investigation into the matter.

Consequently, Saleh Idris has been suspended from his role as the chairman of the APC in Roni Local Government Area, pending the final report of the investigation.

As part of the suspension, the party has directed Saleh Idris to transfer the responsibilities of his position to the vice chairman of the local government area.
Further investigations will be carried out to establish the facts in this case, and more information will follow as the situation unfolds.
