Ambassador Emphasizes People’s Development as Key to Tackling African Security Challenges

Amb. Dr. Aniekanabasi Alban, appointed as the new Head of Security and Peace, Social Justice, and Governance for the International Society of Diplomats, highlighted the pivotal role of people’s development in combating the multifaceted security issues prevalent in Africa.

Amb. Alban, addressing journalists following his appointment in Abuja, stressed the urgency of bridging societal disparities as a means to address prevalent security challenges.

He emphasized that narrowing the divide between different socio-economic classes significantly contributes to mitigating security threats.

Citing that many societal ills stem from individuals feeling marginalized, Amb.

Alban stated, “The development of individuals, communities, and society at large is pivotal in reshaping the narrative. Empowering people to recognize their significance within society contributes to fostering peace.”

Highlighting the correlation between peace and holistic development, Amb. Alban advocated for efforts to bridge the gap between government institutions and citizens, as well as between marginalized groups and society at large.

Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in him by the organization, Amb. Alban expressed his commitment to steering initiatives focused on security, governance, and social justice in Africa. He emphasized the importance of diplomacy, security, governance, and social justice in addressing the continent’s unique challenges and opportunities.
