Alia Assumes Duty, Expresses Worry Over Decay Of Facilities In Ministries, Parastatals and Agencies

Benue State Governor Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia has expressed displeasure at the level of decay of equipments such as furniture and other valuable property of government that has been left unkept by those responsible in handling them.


The governor who conveyed his displeasure Tuesday, when he carried out his first official function after his swearing in ceremony while inspecting some government offices including the Benue State Secretariat complex Makurdi, during which he was taken round offices of other state agencies and parastatals by the outgoing head of service Mrs Veronica Onyeke, equally noted with dissatisfaction reckless handling of official files as well as abandonment of other sensitive documents.

At the ministry of works where he was conducted round by the permanent secretary Mr John Umoo, governor Alia expressed disappointment over the dilapidation in every corner of the ministry with some section of the premises used for farming.
Governor Alia equally lamented that all vehicles and other valuables belonging to the ministry including furniture were carted away with visible evidence on ground.
Reverend Father Alia during the inspection tour also visited Benue printing and publishing company publishers of the Voice Newspaper the Benue Center for Enterprises Development and innovation as well as tourism.
Governor Alia who said the decayed facilities were the representation of government emphasized the need for those working in such places to keep them clean to ensure a hygienic working environment.
